Music and live video art since 2015.

SynthLab’s artist combine analog, digital and acoustic instruments with modular synthesizers, drum machines, loopers, effects processors, and homemade software, to create a wide range of electronic music; ambient, electronica, techno, house, experimental, noise….

SynthLab is directed by Rychard Cooper and Matt Pogue [Faraday Cage], who met in the music department at California State University, Long Beach where Rychard is a professor of composition and electronic music and Matt does graphic design and web development.

Together with Tom Koch [univac] (visual effects artist and circuit bender), they began producing electronic music concerts for the CSULB music students.

SynthLab has now expanded beyond the University, hosting concerts at the Aquarium of the Pacific and various sound and art festivals including SoundPedro 2017, 2018 & 2019, the Long Beach PUMP events and Synthplex 2019.
