Steven Speciale

Steven Speciale teaches music at Loyola High School where he is also the choir director and Director of Music for Hannon Theatre where he will score his seventh play and is collaborating on writing a new musical. Additionally, Steven was invited to join a cadre of eleven international teachers as an Art21 educator for 2018-2019.

Automaton Bricolage Cogitating is the creation of Steven's music appreciation classes. After performing a Fluxus piano work where all the keys were nailed down, the students transformed the instrument into a dadaist sculpture challenging the notion of what a piano is. Robotics, interactivity, and musique concrete inform the current incarnation.
